Questioning The Bare Truth

I have found myself questioning a lot of things lately.

A beautiful woman I follow on IG and who I got to meet in person late last year has been openly discussing the comeback of the bush, and it’s sparked a lot of controversy - namely from men.

The common response is that it’s all personal preference. You want to have a hairy pussy, that’s your choice. You want to shave it or wax it - go for it. But then the comment - personally, I prefer a shaved pussy - comes out.

And it really got me thinking.

My initial thought was, I like waxing my pussy. I like how it feels, I like how it looks, and the only pussy’s I’ve ever been down on have also been hair-free. And I wondered how I would feel about eating a hairy pussy. It seemed that my “personal preference” was also a hair-free vulva, even though I am also of the opinion - you do you, boo. I found myself lumped into the same category as the men that were leaving comments on her posts, and it made me think - have I fallen prey to the patriarchal beauty standards without even realising it?

Acknowledgement of Country.

At Evolving Hearts, I honour the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung peoples as the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work. I recognise their deep and enduring connection to this sacred land - a connection rooted in ceremony, storytelling, and the honouring of life’s cycles for tens of thousands of years.

This ancient wisdom resonates deeply with the work I do, grounded in sacred sexuality and connection. Just as the First Nations peoples have always revered the rhythms of the land, I seek to honour the sacred rhythms and cycles within ourselves, embracing all aspects of who we are with respect, compassion, and love.

I believe there is so much to learn from the traditions of this Country’s original custodians - their ability to honour diversity, to live in harmony with the earth, and to celebrate life’s interconnectedness. These teachings inspire the heart-centered work I share with individuals and couples.

With deep gratitude, I pay my respects to their Elders, past and present, and to the emerging leaders who continue to keep their culture alive. May we all walk forward together in truth, connection, and unity.
